I’m a huge fan of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and would love to take a shot  that was good enough to enter, but I just never have enough time to go and watch and wait for wildlife to run/fly in front of my lens. 

 

We’re very lucky to live close to the city but still have a nature reserve within walking distance. By chance I had my camera ready when I was walking my dog on a beautiful evening last summer  down by the river. I saw 3 ducks flying towards me, chasing each other really fast. As they flew  past I fired off a few shots. Even at 1/500 of a second it’s not completely sharp, they were just flying too fast, but I love the backlighting through the wings. I’m really pleased with this shot but I have to admit it was just chance that I was in the right place at the right time and so it’s my lucky shot.
