I’m a huge fan of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and would love to take a shot  that was good enough to enter, but I just never have enough time to go and watch and wait for wildlife to run/fly in front of my lens. 
 
We’re very lucky to live close to the city but still have a nature reserve within walking distance. By chance I had my camera ready when I was walking my dog on a beautiful evening last summer  down by the river. I saw 3 ducks flying towards me, chasing each other really fast. As they flew  past I fired off a few shots. Even at 1/500 of a second it’s not completely sharp, they were just flying too fast, but I love the backlighting through the wings. I’m really pleased with this shot but I have to admit it was just chance that I was in the right place at the right time and so it’s my lucky shot.

Once this is all in place a few design and functionality tweaks should see it finished and ready for launch on the new UK server. Features of the CMS that have recently been completed include:

  • news manager - adding and editing news stories that automatically publish to an RSS feed
  • slideshow manager - adding or removing slides from the slideshow with a drag and drop re-ordering interface
  • tag manager - custom pages for each tag with page titles, galleries and supporting text ensure there is no subject that is too specialist for it's own page
  • gallery manager - drag and drop images in and out of the main galleries
  • image pool - upload, name and tag new images into the image pool
  • page text editor - use a rich text editor to compose pages and layouts with the ability to upload images directly into pages and files for download from links within pages
